I have twenty years experience working in print media - mostly as a newspaper and magazine designer. For a number of years I also edited and art directed the independent fashion and culture magazine, Cult. Aimed at a readership between 18-35, Cult was distributed in Ireland and Northern Ireland through Eason and other independent retailers.

We interviewed people such as James Franco, Lena Dunham and Stephen King. There were opinion and informative pieces on film, television and theatre. Its style section, with original photo-shoots, formed a large part of its 84 pages and it came out seasonally.

I was central to the production and worked in many different aspects such as design and commissioning as well as art directing photo shoots and editing. I am currently working for the Irish Daily Mail as a magazine and newspaper designer. I also do some work on the newspaper’s digital app, MailPlus.

Early in my career I discovered a flair for design while on work experience from my journalism course in Rathmines Senior College. Working at The Echo newspaper in Tallaght I was encouraged to pursue design.

In 2002 I obtained a Journalism Certificate and in 2019 a certificate in Web Design, both from Griffith College, Dublin. Aside from the training and experience I have received over the years from various employers in magazines, newspapers and an advertising agency I attended a number of short courses in institutions such as Central Saint Martins in London and IADT Dun Laoghaire.

I have completed courses including Art Direction for Photography, Typography and Illustration. I have also undertaken various software-based training courses.

I recieved my MA in Communication Design from NCAD (National College of Art and Design, Dublin) in 2021.
